Moonlit Boat by Sandra Pond
All Levels Including Beginners
Set in the iconic and beautiful surrounds of Pin Mill, Suffolk, an Area
of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this one, two or three day watercolour
painting course provides expert tuition from artist Sandra Pond,
a watercolour illustrator for The Guardian and numerous books.
The days provide techniques of basic watercolour, application of paints,
brush strokes, sourcing material, how to work from imagery and many
more useful tips.
All this and a meal at the famous Butt and Oyster included in the price.
The day is hosted by Sandra Pond, an extremely accomplished
watercolourist with work published all over the world. Whether you're
an absolute beginner or want to improve your technique you will definitely
benefit from Sandra's calm and attentive approach. The courses are
limited to 8 students giving opportunity for personal advice and tuition.
You will need to bring with you a sketch book, a digital camera, if you
have one, wellies or similiar and suitable clothing. You can paint in the
comfortable surrounds of the studio so don't worry about the weather.
A canvas, watercolour paints, brushes, easel, palette and a few group
digital cameras will be supplied free of charge.
The Day - A Basic Outline
10.00 - 12.30 :
Hellos at The Pin Mill Studio. Introduction from artist Sandra Pond
including a guide to watercolour equipment (paints, pencils, paper,
brushes, easels etc) and what you really do and dont need.
If you're on the two or three day course then Sandra will adapt to your
needs. Hot and cold drinks will be available free throughout the day.
Throughout the morning, the group will look at composition, drawing,
and the basics of watercolour painting with practical sessions and
demonstrations by Sandra. With plenty of inspiration at Pin Mill,
a selection of objects from the shore in the studio and the chance
(depending on the weather!) to go out and make sketches or photographs
(these can be printed at the Studio), there will be plenty of opportunity
to paint the subject of your choice. With the foundations of your paintings
underway, we will retire for a break.
12.30 - 13.30 :
Lunch at the famous riverside pub the Butt and Oyster,
located next to Pin Mill Studio.
13.30 - 16.00 :
Refreshed, we will continue painting from your reference source -
photos, still life groups and sketches produced during the morning.
Sandra will give further demonstrations and provide personal attention
to each group member. The session will end with a review of the day.
Develop all aspects from the day before or if you've come for just for
the day then its into image gathering, sketching, photos and painting
under the expert tuition of Sandra. Sandra will tutor you in the aspects
you need help with according to which level you've reached and the level
you'd like to attain.
A full day (9.30am-5pm) of personal tuition with a small group of friends.
The format can be very similar to the group days or something very
different talk to Sandra to discuss your objectives and a day, or days
that suit you. The price of £600 includes all materials (as above) and
a two course lunch and drinks at the famous riverside pub The Butt
and Oyster.
Corporate days available on request at anytime - the day or days would
be tailored to your company's requirements - a reward for hard work,
a moral and bonding programme or simply team building - you decide.
